The vocabulary of sickle cell is extremely complicated, especially for our young warriors. However, it doesn’t have to be! Join us as we learn what reticulocytes, tactoid chains, and vaso-occlusive blockages are. Drama, art, and science experiments are all included during this two-part session.

My Health Passport
Join us as we identify medications, common medical personnel, and overall care related to sickle cell. Each participant will also create a personalized Health passport for use during both outpatient and inpatient situations. For those that do not live with sickle cell, we will focus on creating healthy habits and raising self awareness around overall health.

Natural Approaches to Pain Management
How can you combat pain either without or in conjunction with pain medications? How can your self-care choices help you to reduce the frequency of your pain? This hands on session will explore two terrific options- the use of relaxation and diet. Participants will make a takeaway stress ball and sample foods that increase blood production.
